Tickets to the 2016 U. S. Senior Open Championship, conducted by the United States Golf Association, are now available. Two-time U.S. Senior Open Champion Jack Nicklaus (1991, 1993) will serve as Honorary Chair. The 37th playing of the prestigious senior golf championship will take place August 8-14, 2016, in Columbus, Ohio, at Scioto Country Club—where Jack Nicklaus famously learned the game of golf from legendary teaching professional Jack Grout—in conjunction with the Club’s centennial celebration.
Weekly Grounds tickets, which are valid Monday through Sunday and provide access to the championship grounds, are available for a special introductory rate of $100 each through December 31, 2014.
Tickets for the 1916 Club, also valid Monday through Sunday, provide access to the championship grounds, as well as an air-conditioned pavilion located between Holes 13, 14 and 15. “The launch of ticket sales for the 2016 U.S. Senior Open marks an exciting step in our journey towards the return of major championship golf at Scioto Country Club,” said the championship’s general chairman Walt Dennis. “We are thrilled to offer introductory pricing for the championship and we are confident the event will provide an unparalleled experience that golf fans will cherish as we add a new chapter to the already rich golf history here in Central Ohio.”
Scioto is one of only four golf courses that have hosted five different major competitions. The club’s legacy includes serving as host to the 1926 U.S. Open, won by golf legend Bob Jones; followed by the 1931 Ryder Cup, 1950 PGA Championship, 1968 U.S. Amateur, and 1986 U.S. Senior Open.
“Scioto Country Club will be an incredible venue for the U.S. Senior Open,” said Kip Eriksen, chief operating officer for HNS Sports Group, the management company for the 2016 U.S. Senior Open Championship. “Corporate clients will have a unique opportunity to enjoy world-class golf at one of the most decorated courses in the country. The hospitality vantage points positioned on Holes 8, 9, 16, 17 and 18 are spectacular and will provide clients and their guests a great experience throughout the week.”
