Jack Nicklaus installs Southwest Greens synthetic turf in his North Palm Beach backyard

Iconic sportsman and golf course designer Jack Nicklaus has redesigned the practice putting green at his North Palm Beach, Fla. home to include all Golden Bear synthetic turf by Southwest Greens (SWG). His family’s primary residence since 1970, Nicklaus has used various grasses over time. His practice green complex, and the addition of a multi-use bocce court, prompted the recent redesign in partnership with Southwest Greens.
“I’ve had the opportunity to work more closely with the SWG team in developing Golden Bear turf for private home greens as well as golf facilities,” said Jack Nicklaus. “I see more people, including my own family, using Golden Bear turf at their homes, so I really wanted to try it out at my house. My family and friends will enjoy the new area we designed. The turf is terrific and offers a number of advantages, including reduced maintenance costs and water conservation. This is a trend you will only see increase in the coming years.”
Southwest Greens International is a multi-million-dollar network of more than 90 franchise operations worldwide and is considered the global leader in designing and installing state-of-the-art synthetic turf projects for residential and commercial use. SWGI’s artificial grass product is the preferred putting surface for over 35 professional golfers on the PGA Tour. The company designs artificial turf for golf, grass and sports use, as well as for residential lawns and landscaping.
SWGI was selected by Nicklaus Design in 2004 to produce premium synthetic golf greens for residential customers. “The relationship continues to evolve from Nicklaus Design imparting professional design principles into our golf green installations to creating our Golden Bear Synthetic Turf line of premium artificial turf grasses,” said Jim Walton, president of Southwest Greens Florida. “It’s truly been an honor working with Jack at his private residence to create a beautiful environment that his family and friends can enjoy.”
“Since the new installation, I’ve made more time to get outside and enjoy my home’s putting green,” Nicklaus added. “Barbara and I love to entertain our friends and family on the weekends, and so far, everyone is a big fan of our home’s new turf.”
